Snow is falling outside my windows. Everything is clean and new, and the mountain backdrop is breathtaking. I live in a Christmas card. I have a cup of coffee on the table next to me and let’s be honest–it is also beautiful. Oh, that first morning cup! The corner in which I sit is a sanctuary for me. A haven. Its beauty lies not with what surrounds me but with what lies within me. I’m spending time with the One who created me and saved my soul. My Jesus meets me here each morning, loving me and giving me focus for my day.
There’s no magic formula for this time I spend. . . I simply show up and ask Him to meet me. He always does. When distractions crowd in, He helps me regain my focus. His word is honey to my lips and meat to satisfy my soul. In these moments I find my purpose, my joy.
The world is a crazy place and fills our minds, hearts, and calendars with all sorts of things. Come away for a bit and recharge. Spend some time with the only One who knows exactly who and where you are in this life. He loves you so dearly–no matter what your past or present looks like. There is life and refreshing in Jesus.
